After the hustle and bustle of planning, last minute rearrangements and finally the outcome of a beautiful wedding ceremony in your dream wedding dress, it is time to focus on your first vacation as husband and wife, the honeymoon. When you think about getting married, the thought of a honeymoon is not far away. A honeymoon is a place where you and your spouse will be able to forget the stressful months leading up to your wedding day, venture to a new place, celebrate yourselves as a married couple and lastly to unwind. Here are a few tips to make your honeymoon as effortless and carefree as possible.
As with most things in life, preparation is key. Once you have decided on the trip you will be going on, it is important to find out if everything is up-to-date. You want to make sure that if you are traveling abroad or across a country’s boarder that your travel documents are still valid. Many times passports have to be issued or renewed. Due to other procedures that come with this, e.g. taking passport pictures, various appointments at embassies or travel offices, it is recommendable to make sure your travel documents are still valid or will be by the time you travel. If you or your spouse are/is changing the last name, make sure to book your trip in the name that will be in your travel document at time of travel. Further advice is to make sure that your immunization records are up-to-date. Some countries require certain vaccines to be issued before a trip is taken. Visit your doctor to go over your records.

Your honeymoon can consist of hiking mountains, getting spa treatments in a hotel, seeing various sites or all of the previously listed. Important is that you do not overwhelm yourself, especially if your honeymoon is short. If your honeymoon consists of a few days to a week, you might just want to relax and unravel; if it is longer than two weeks, various activities can be booked. Find the perfect ratio for you. Some might want to fill each and every day with different things and others might just want to enjoy the change of scenery.

3. Bed & Breakfast or Luxury
There are many ways to spend your honeymoon. You might want your honeymoon to be filled with luxury or with simplicity. It all depends on your budget or what you are willing to spend on it. Maybe you would rather look for more favorable accommodations so you can spend your cash on sightseeing and souvenirs, or your focus can be spending more on having a luxurious hotel with all the commodities needed to let your mind wander.
Each honeymoon is different and perfect in its own way. What counts is that you are spending valuable time with your significant other and enjoying the beginning of an exciting journey ahead of you.
